Hi, I'm Josh.
This operation is all me at the moment — with a lot of help from Claude (full transparency). Here's the story of how a garage chemistry habit turned into Galactic Brew Labs.

Me and Aspen, running the ship.
Galactic Brew Labs started out as my homebrewing project, where I make experimental beers constantly and continue to do so. Some notable beers include a Mojo Double IPA (featuring a tequila tincture of orange, cilantro, and lime), a Fruity Pebbles Hard Seltzer (yes, exactly what you think), and a Beggar's Night Stout that featured 5 lbs of individually wrapped leftover Halloween candy (chocolates only — I wanted it to be drinkable).
I've also pushed boundaries, placing second in Yakima Fresh Hop Fest's specialty Fresh Hop IPA category with a beer that featured 10 lbs of hops and 2 lbs of lactose, then a failed-ish attempt to use 26 lbs of fresh hops in a 5-gallon IPA batch. It was... interesting. I'm also the VP (for now) of our local homebrew chapter, MCZA, and have helped inspire countless out-of-the-box brews.

I say all this to let you know I'm not about the classics. I'm all about breaking BJCP styles and traditional beer rules. I also have a PhD in chemistry and I'm a huge food fan and home cook — which drives me to push flavor profiles constantly. I'm so happy to help brewers do the same.
This brew kit comes from a real place of love for craft homebrewing. I've seen the same story all over Reddit and everywhere else — we lost our local homebrew shop. Everything now comes delivered from some big faceless supplier that doesn't know your name or what you actually brew. I created PNW Brew out of my garage to serve the Tri-Cities area with cut-rate prices, keeping things simple with local delivery instead of shipping.
But I wanted to try an experiment, and the response has been amazing — so here I am in week 3, still building the infrastructure I need to make this happen for everyone out there who wants something new to talk about. That's where Galactic Brew Box comes in, so I can bring this same experiment to brewers outside the Tri-Cities too.

Transferring wort into a fermenter for a Hazy IPA we brewed over campfire during a camping trip. Brew to keg and tasting in 2.5 days!
This is a brew kit that's meant to be shared. I want to hear all about it. I can't taste your beers (not suggesting you send me very carefully packed "yeast samples") — but through your peer review process I'll get a sense of what's working, and we can create new and exciting recipes together. We can iterate and keep pushing the boundaries, together.
So that's my story — a chemist with a lab in my garage that now happens to be a brew shop too, getting ready to start making connections across the country with my silly ideas.
Thanks for being here!

Aspen, my blue heeler — she loves a good brew day.
